HS09: 5 Day Basic Rope Access Techniques Course - On Site

Purpose of the course
This 5 day course is designed to provide 35 hours of theoretical and practical training with assessment to enable delegates to identify potential risks and hazards associated with rope access, setting up for basic rope access work and carrying out basic self-rescue techniques in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005, BS 7985 Code of Practice for the Use of Rope Access Methods for Industrial Purposes and BS 8454 Advisory Committee for Work at Height Training.

This course is ideally suited for those wishing to carry out work or inspections on sloping roofs that have no other means of fall protection, steep embankments or similar places where safe access is required. On completion of the course, delegates should be able to set up simple temporary rope access systems to carry out work at height safely and be able to carry out basic self-recovery
techniques in the event of an incident.

An overview of the Work at Height and associated regulations
Typical hazards associated with rope access
Preventing falls
The requirement for an Emergency & Rescue Plan
First Aid requirements and understanding suspension syncope
Multiple-choice test paper

Practical
Pre-use checking and fitting of PFPE
Basic knots
Setting up for rope access
Use of work positioning system
Use of suitable anchor points
Self-rescue techniques
Practical assessment
Duration and Certification
Five days (09:00-17:00)

6 delegates maximum per course

Morsafe Limited E-certificate (valid for 3 years)
Course requirements and prerequisites
Delegates must have a good command of the English language

This is a BS 7985 Code of Practice for the Use of Rope Access Methods for Industrial Purposes course and NOT an Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) approved course

Delegates will require confirmation of medical fitness or complete a self-certification statement

Delegates will require footwear and clothing to suit the course and weather conditions

Climbing equipment will be provided
